The full energy balance with PV: a cost for every production order
Situation
A manufacturer with its own photovoltaic plant, the same site as in the automated OKTE reporting study, sub-meters all of its technologies. Energy costs, however, were allocated to production in bulk – from the invoice, via allocation keys. What a specific order really cost in electricity could only be estimated; and with the company’s own rooftop generation, the estimate got even harder.
Solution
Every technology is sub-metered with readings every five minutes – alongside consumption also voltage, per-phase power and other grid parameters. Connecting the PV plant into the same platform closed the balance: the site’s total consumption is reduced by its own generation. For any interval during which a technology ran, the system determines the consumption belonging to that order with solid accuracy. And because production volumes are integrated via the API as well, the cost calculation runs on a single set of data, with no re-typing between systems.
How we read the numbers on this site: The figures in these studies come from people inside those operations – engineers and managers who dug the savings out of their own data. They are not audited or officially approved; companies do not publish numbers like these. That is why we do not name the customers, and why every figure says where it comes from.
Result
At the end of the month, each technology’s cost is divided by its production volume: energy stopped being an overhead line and became a measurable component of every order’s cost. Controlling takes the figures straight from the system instead of assembling exports, and estimated allocation keys were replaced by measured intervals. The same data also shows how much of the consumption is covered by the company’s own PV generation – the balance of generation and consumption is covered end to end, from the roof to the individual machine.
Honest numbers
Deployed in 2026, the same customer as the automated OKTE PV reporting study – a manufacturer with a PV plant of roughly 1.3 MW, whom we do not name. We deliberately publish no financial figures or percentages; the benefit is replacing allocation keys with measured values. The platform licence is not included in any calculation on this site.
